About Deb
As I sit at the keys to compose this, to take my life experiences, to distill them into a list of titles and roles, and to offer them to you... I am reminded of a story shared with me, of a place and an existence, where your ‘titles’ do not define who you are.
These words, listed, will not limit who I am, and will not accurately explain the scope of my interests, my abilities, or my capacity for learning. My collection of experiences has brought me here, and each has added to the depth that I offer through LAYC.
I am a mother, an entrepreneur, a writer. I am a lifelong learner, an advocate for literacy and air quality. I am passionate about leadership, about mentoring, about striving and about sharing. I am personal, political and public. I am also private, quiet and a gardener.
I have been commended for my marketing abilities, my speaking talents, my aptitude for writing and for both seeing and hearing the hidden in what is being spoken, acted, or written.
I say what I think, I am not afraid of much, anymore. Once I was afraid of so much, I nearly lost my voice, and my way.
I am a friend, a daughter, a granddaughter, a sister, an aunt and a godmother.
What I bring into the world, through LAYC is a structure that will enrich and enliven discussion, growth, satisfaction and deliver encouragement. The work that I will bring will bear honesty and expectation, I know what I am asking of myself by creating LAYC, and the commitment I am making to you, to both deliver and to interact in a rich and authentic form.
